Overview

This quick reference guide explains how to perform common calling functions on the Grandstream GXP2160 desk phone. It is intended for all Crexendo phone users who need a fast reference for placing, answering, transferring, and managing calls.

Basic Call Handling

Making a Call

  1. Pick up the handset, press Speaker, or press Headset.
  2. Dial the phone number or extension.
  3. Press Send or # to place the call.

You can also dial the phone number or extension first, then pick up the handset or press Speaker.

Answering a Call

When the phone rings, use one of the following methods:

  • Pick up the handset.
  • Press Speaker to answer using speakerphone.
  • Press Headset if a headset is connected.

Ending a Call

Hang up the handset, or press Speaker or Headset again when using those modes.

Putting a Call on Hold

  1. During a call, press Hold.
  2. To resume the call, press the flashing Line key associated with the call.

Mute

Press Mute during a call to mute your microphone. Press Mute again to unmute.

Speakerphone

Press the Speaker button to place or answer a call hands-free.


Transferring Calls

Blind Transfer

A blind transfer sends the caller directly to another extension or number without speaking to the recipient first.

  1. While on a call, press Transfer.
  2. Dial the destination extension or phone number.
  3. Press Send/Transfer to complete the transfer.

Attended Transfer

An attended transfer allows you to speak with the transfer recipient before connecting the original caller.

  1. While handling the original call, call the person you want to transfer the caller to.
  2. Speak with the transfer recipient.
  3. Press Transfer and use the appropriate on-screen option to complete the transfer.

Available transfer options may vary depending on your phone configuration and Crexendo phone-system settings.


Conference Calls

  1. While on a call, press Conference.
  2. Dial the next participant.
  3. After the participant answers, press Conference again to join the calls.

Voicemail and Redial

Voicemail

Press the Message/Voicemail button and follow the voice prompts.

Your phone system administrator may configure the voicemail destination or voicemail feature differently.

Redial

While the phone is idle, press Send/Redial to call the last dialed number.


Call History and Contacts

Call History

Use the navigation/Menu controls to access call history and review missed, received, and placed calls.

Contacts

Press the Contacts button to access the phone's configured contact directory.


Volume Controls

Use the Volume – / + keys to adjust audio levels.

Phone is idle Ringer volume
Handset call Handset volume
Speaker call Speaker volume
Headset call Headset volume

Use the Up, Down, Left, and Right arrow keys to move through menus. Press the round Menu/OK button to select an item.

The Up key can also be used as a quick way to display the phone's IP address.


Programmable Keys

The Grandstream GXP2160 includes multiple line and programmable keys. Your administrator can configure these keys for functions such as:

  • Extensions and line appearances
  • Speed dial
  • Busy Lamp Field (BLF)
  • Call park
  • Other phone-system features

Programmable key behavior may differ between users because these keys are configured by your administrator.
