Objective
When a 911 call is made from a large building, there are many instances when internal staff may want to be aware of who called 911 in order to respond internally or directly with responders. Enabling E911 notification will call an extension and identify that a 911 call was made, and from which phone.
Rules The Core Module must be running code version 1220 or higher.
EXAMPLE: We are referencing emergency calls being placed to 911, but the concept is not 911-specific, any regional emergency number can be used. The System Parameter SBusMgrXmtEnable must be set to a value of yes.

How Can I Enable Notifications for Emergency Calls that Have Been Placed
Procedure
Following procedures:
- Emergency Notification Dial Translation
- Phone Notification Dial Translation
- Email Notification Dial Translation
Emergency Notification Dial Translation
- Log in to the Admin UI of the Core Module and navigate to Dial Planning > Dial Translations (Default or Cloud PBX Features dial translation).
- Create or edit the dial translation rule for emergency dialing.
- Set the Application to Emergency w/ Notify, and the Application Parameter will be the target dial translation rule for the party to notify.
EXAMPLE: 911CallToNotify5223 to notify device 5223.
- The Source User Translation field should be set to as this will utilize the user’s emergency Caller ID value rather than their normal Caller ID value. Multiple entries can be placed in the Application Parameter field.
EXAMPLE: 911CallToNotify5223 and EMailToNotify would both call extension 5223 and email the user specified in the EMailToNotify rule.
Phone Notification Dial Translation
Create a rule to trigger the phone notification of a 911 call that has been placed. This should be added to the same dial translation that the previous dial rule was created in.
- This rule will be for a Destination of 911CallToNotifyxxxx (where xxxx is the extension) to allow for the system to follow the value added to the Application Parameter in the previous step.
TIP: Keep in mind that if you have mixed extension lengths within the domain you are creating the rule for, then you will need to create multiple dial rules to accommodate this.
- Setting the Application to Call Say Account and Application Parameter to phrase-911-call-originated-by.wav will play the notification of a 911 call, followed by either the user’s recorded name or extension number, if not available.
IMPORTANT: It is important to exclude the .wav suffix from the "phrase-911-call-originated-by" application parameter.
- The Destination User Translation is another key setting since the exclamation points will strip the 911CallToNotify part of the Destination and leave just xxxx; the extension. In this case, this would be 5223.
Email Notification Dial Translation
To send an email notification, you must first ensure that the System Properties parameter SBusMgrXmtEnable is set to a value of yes.
TIP: This can be found in the Admin UI of the Core Module by navigating to System > Settings > Advanced > Properties.
Once this is completed, create a rule as shown below.
The Destination User Translation should be the part of the destination email address before the @, while Destination Host Translation is the part of the destination email address after the @.
EXAMPLE: For the email address bob@example.com, the Destination User Translation would be bob, and the Destination Host Translation would be example.com.
