How to Manually Provision Grandstream Gateway
Procedure
Manual Provision
- Find the IP address for the gateway. Use an IP scanner, or if they have an analog phone, do the following:
- Pick up the connected handset and dial *** to access the main menu.
- Wait for the instructed command.
- Dial 002, and the IP address will be announced.
- Using the IP address, pull up the WEBGui and log in.
- Once logged in, gather the registration information for the users who will be assigned to the gateway.
IMPORTANT: Do not assign the device to the user in VIP. You will not be able to gather the proper information.
- Navigate to Profile 1 across the top navigation panel. Configure these two parameters:
- Primary SIP Server: Domain/Proxy
-
Outbound Proxy: The domain's outbound proxy is listed
- Navigate to the bottom of the screen and select Update.
- When the screen refreshes, scroll back down to the bottom and select Apply.
- Navigate to the FXS PORTS section. With the user registrations that were pulled earlier, fill out the following fields:
- SIP User ID: User’s extension number
- Authenticate ID: User’s extension number
- Password: Enter the password from the user’s phone settings
- Name: Anything can go here to help identify the line: name, extension, device type, etc.
-
Enable Port: Select Yes
- Repeat the process for all users assigned to the Grandstream.
- Once again, update, apply, and select Reboot.
- Once the device comes back up, confirm registration in the status screen of the gateway.
Auto Provision
- Open NDP
- Navigate to Configuration > Gateways > Analog (FXS/FXO)
- Select Add Configuration
- Input the MAC address, select the device model number, and select the server that corresponds to the domain. Once completed, click Select Server
- Select the domain from the drop-down menu and click Select Domain to move to the next screen.
- Manually fill out each line of the gateway. Click Save once all extensions have been entered.

The device should now act the same as any other device trying to be provisioned on VIP.
- Factory reset the gateway, and it will come up provisioned and registered.
