Procedure

If you keep getting sales calls more than 31 days after registering your number with the FTC, or you receive any robocall regardless of your registration status, file a complaint using one of the options below:

NOTE: Before you report, jot down the date, time, number, and what the caller said. A short log makes any complaint stronger and helps if you later need to block the number.

Option 1: File with the FTC (telemarketing violations)

  • Via Online: Go to www.donotcall.gov and select File a Complaint. Have the caller's phone number or company name and the date of the call ready. Your name and address are optional.
  • By phone: Call 1-888-382-1222 (TTY: 1-866-290-4236).

Option 2: File with the FCC (robocalls and spoofed numbers)

Go to consumercomplaints.fcc.gov or call 1-888-225-5322 (1-888-CALL-FCC). The FCC handles illegal robocalls and caller ID spoofing.

Option 3: Report Fraud or Scam Calls

For calls involving fraud, report separately to the FTC at reportfraud.ftc.gov.

EXAMPLE: Fake IRS agents, fake tech support, prize scams, etc.
